I had my membranes stripped a second time on Thursday morning and the contractions got stronger! By 3:15 we were at the hospital checking in. By 6:30 Dr. Jacob broke my water.
Around 9:00 the baby's heart monitor started to drop (after I was given a tiny bit of pitocin) and last time she had checked me I was just dilated to a 5 so the nurse put me on oxygen, backed off the pitocin and kept trying to find his heartbeat. By the time she went to check me and put an internal heart monitor on the baby I was fully complete, dilated to a 10 and ready to have the baby! We called Dr. Jacob and my Mom and Chelsea and after pushing through just three contractions he was born!

A couple days after we got home from the hospital
Nicklaus' jaundice climbed a few points so he got his own little tanning bed
I hated this thing...It was like putting him in a straight jacket.
But his levels dropped after a day and a half of "tanning" and he got to come out!
Hooray!
We are absolutely smitten with him.
He's perfect and we can't get enough of him.
We had a really hard time coming up with a name for this little guy.
Todd and I didn't seem to agree on anything. Todd wanted to name him Drake and I liked Max, Matthew and Nicholas. Todd said he liked Nicholas too but he liked the spelling of Nicklaus after their good family friend, Jack Nicklaus. And since I was fine with calling the baby Nick for short...I agreed to spell it Nicklaus. So right before I came home from the hospital I filled out the birth certificate as Nicklaus Todd Miller.
So there you go...that's the story of how we had a baby and decided on a name :)

ahhhhh!! Shans & Todd-he is SO PERFECT! I love him and can't wait to see him in person. Shans-it doesn't surprise me that you look gorgeous right after giving birth. You're so pretty. Your girls look thrilled. Looks like Jane is getting on board with having a brother. I love his name. xoxo
